Create an alias.
Wedding vendors are really nice people, but you do not want to be in touch with ALL of us for the rest of your life. If you are anything like me, you have had the same email address for years, want to keep it, and hate SPAM. Consider creating an email alias (think SmithWedding@provider.com). Most free Internet providers let you create several names on one primary email account. Use this email address to do all things wedding planning. That way, wedding will not take over your life...or your email box.
Similarly consider contacting your local phone company to inquire about a specialty ring number for your home phone. Again, this service may already be included in your existing services. Or you can sign up for Google voice and get a number to use for wedding planning. It also saves you from feeling like you have to give fake information to keep from getting pestered by well-meaning but unwanted wedding vendors.
Once you have your wedding planning contact information, create peel and stick labels to use at the show. Vendors will have sign in sheets and being able to stick a label on the sheet will save you from hand cramps! Be sure to include the bride and groom’s name, wedding date, as well as your newly created phone number and email address. Bring lots of them to the show!
Often vendors offer special discounts, sales, and prizes if you sign a contract or schedule a consultation at the show. We don't want you to make impulse purchases and have buyer's regret, nor do we want you to miss a great deal! So bring your checkbook and your decision-makers so that they can give you sage advice! Besides, it will be more fun to have them with you!
If you have questions before the show about your planning process, join our email list. If you are a bride who needs a FREE ticket to the A Perfect Wedding Guide Bridal Show at the Embassy Suites in Cary, NC, please contact me at contact@AParadigmShiftEvent.com.
See you on July 14th!
